Re: [DeTomaso] Door Trim Removal
6643 May have the tiny screws through the felts, but the early cars just have a metal tab that folds under the upper door shell. Kinda cheesy. Bill one is broke off. 1362 https://www.facebook.com/pages/slickpaintcom/129049637149634?ref=ts&fref=ts If you want it slick. www.slickpaint.com like us on facebook -----Original Message-----

I'm beginning to remove trim from 6643 and prepping for paint. I've removed the outside chrome/stainless
strip at the top of the door/bottom of the glass years ago but don't remember any particulars. It's the one
that runs the length of the door. I recall that it's a press fit and just clamps to the door metal but can't remember
if it's actually secured in any way... like through the window whiskers. It's never been removed before and is
very tight right now.
Thanks for any help!
Michael
1488 has the tiny screws which are a challenge when adding new felt because you either have to drill new screw holes in the door or transfer the old screw hole locations to the new felt. Rob On Thu, Jun 23, 2016 at 8:14 AM, bill gaino <gaino@earthlink.net> wrote:

Well, as it turns out I had to remove the window and the front quarter window in order remove the chrome strip. The felt strip had 3 screws going into the door metal and the chrome strip also had 3 screws that were hidden by the felt strip and the front quarter window. I didn’t have to remove the window lift mechanism, but did have the remove the rear window channel and disconnect the glass from the lift in order to remove the front quarter window. It wasn’t that complicated but everything was very tight having never been apart before. It’s all starting to come back to me. ??
