More of Steve's Yellow Car-The Pangusta!
"It's an abomination." -Disgust and hatred? "Look, someone has to point up these mindless modifications to cars that are now ( who knows why ) worth something." - They've always been worth something. "The unmolested cars are the ones that will raise to the top of the money pile." -Maybe true, but hopefully that is not why you own one. "And THAT is exactly why De Tomasos, Panteras in general will NEVER be taken seriously by the Motoring World because of the ill conceived "additions" that are foisted on a great many of these cars." -That may also be true, but why would you care whether they are or not? Nancy I find it interesting that mods like Steve has done are repugnant to you. I am not judging you, just your opinions and would hope that you don't view my response as an attack on your character. We all have the right to express our thoughts knowing all may not agree. That's what free speech is all about right? I try to see the work done as a labor of love for cars and for it's engineering craftsmanship. It's that unrelenting human factor that makes people to do such things. It's what drives some to push the existing threshold beyond what we know. Beauty is in the eye of the creator, how you perceive it is of course your choice. The "Motoring World" would be a very, very boring place without people like Steve and others of like mind who are well respected for the modifications they've created. And not just Panteras. Endless "mindless" innovations have come from people like him that have guided the course of automotive history and evolution. I'm sure you are aware of this and can respect that. You still may not like it Nancy and that's ok. It can be a challenge and it may sound so esoteric, but if you can relearn and allow yourself to find some appreciation and acceptance of things initially uncomforting then perhaps you'll reduce bother and add bit more enjoyment in your life. And we could all use a little more of that these days :) Respectfully, Matt (trying unsuccessfully to like rap) Wells 3584 "It's an abomination." -Disgust and hatred? Our 74 is somewhat modified and known for its rare 3 twos.... We admire all the great modifications our Pantera friends have come up with and consider them "auto/motor geniuses"! We respect all the stock Panteras and every Pantera we see in our travels, shows and postings! Keep expressing yourselves guys and gals by fulfilling your vision of what your car can be! You have that right and you are admired and respected by the most who count! Sent from Effie's iPad

If you plan to be buried in your Pantera (like Sandra West in her Ferrari) or money is not an issue, then feel free to do what ever you like. But if you have some expectation that when you move on, the car will have at least some value, you may want to avoid extremes. I was happy to see the modified Pantera in the Mecum auction do so well. There was a time when every modification dropped the value of a car, but a well done resto-mod seems to have respect these days. The TV commentators for the Mecum auction seemed pretty favorable, but did say if you plan to drive much, it made sense to upgrade a few things. Oh well, strawberry, celery, same thing! You are so hilarious! Have we met? I would have remember this great sense of humor! Personally, although neither one of ours will be yellow, ever, I love, love, love yellows! Reason? When we have runs, I love to be able to see the cars ahead of us in a distance and in my opinion, the yellow shows the best! I also love the Buckmans green Pantera and saw pictures of a couple more of those, posted. Personal taste, of course because each Pantera is beautiful! What color is yours? Sent from Effie's iPad

To all who asked about the 3 twos in our 74 Pantera, we will be sending an article which will hopefully be published in the Profiles, Mike Haney and Jack DeRyke approving, of course! If you don't see it there, for whatever reason, will publish in the SDP chapter website and you can find it there. Thank you all who asked, Robert had that vision in the early 80s when he got the car, sitting in a garage, under junk, looking sad and it was resurrected in its present condition in 1983. Always driven, Sedona, Monterey, Palm Springs, Orange County, Vegas, Monterey, Reno and Chandler rally's, only missed two years due to a blown engine and our trip to DeTomaso grounds in Modena in 1996! Never trailed! Sent from Effie's iPad
