I am guessing that the system hasn¹t been flushed and cleaned out thoroughly enough. When a compressor blows up the aluminum vains break up scattering little bits of metal thought the system. They can get caught in the condenser and evaporator. You need may not be able to do a simple reverse flush without opening up the entire system to get all the crap out of the Evaporator and Condenser if it got that far and in this case it sounds like it has. Kirk¹s system uses a ³Fitted Belt² pulley system that is a little tricky to install, but typically can¹t over stress a compressor nose bearing very easily. LARRY

I've got the Kirk Evans bulkhead reduction kit and pulley setup that drives the compressor from the crank and the alternator from the compressor. I am on my third Sanden rotory compressor and this time I had new high and low pressure switches installed by an AC shop. With the compressor off, there are no issues. With the compressor on, at 2,500 the brand new compressor makes a metallic clanking noise. This is the same noise that occurred before the last 2 compressors failed. The noise builds up and if you let off on the revs, it slowly decreases. Is this noise from over-revving? Over pressurization? Defective compressor? Any ideas welcome.
