Gray Gregory final results for the 2016 Le Mans Classic show he and Alex finished 12th overall in their grid! Great result, and on the lead lap. Ahead of some very big time cars. Congratulations
Even more remarkable is that he received a two-minute penalty due to a totally obscure and nonsensical rule regarding pit stops. He pitted under yellow, and the safety car was out; due to the size of the course, they use
three safety cars. At the end of his pit stop he rejoined the track. He was, naturally, behind one safety car and a string of race cars, but he was also ahead of the other two safety cars and their respective strings of race cars. Apparently there is some obscure rule that says that he is supposed to park at the pit lane exit until a safety car passes, and then fall in line behind it, or something like that. He failed to do so, and instead just rejoined in a reasonable manner, and was docked two minutes. Were it not for that, he would have been classified in EIGHTH place, out of a huge field of 78 starters. Not bad for a beginner!!!
