I can agree with Nancy that the less radically modified a Pantera is, the more value it will most likely bring in the future. And that the more of them that -are- modified, the less will be like what they were originally designed. Personally, I think the Pantera world will find the proper equilibrium on this topic. I also think the fact that modifying a Pantera is -not- taboo in the Pantera world (versus say the prancing horse people), is what makes the car so appealing to so many. There have been some radical mods to Panteras that I've not personally liked, but so what, it's not -my- car. I -can- however, even in those I didn't personally like, appreciate the work and mastery that went into many of them. This clamshell Yellow Pantera is one. There are a few points about it that aren't to my taste, but overall I think it's a well executed design mod; stands out from the crowd, is functional and probably provides a great deal of satisfaction to the owner. If I saw it at a car show I would tell the owner as much, that I think they did a great job. And THAT is exactly why De Tomasos, Panteras in general will NEVER be taken seriously by the Motoring World because of the ill conceived "additions" that are foisted on a great many of these cars. Granted I'm not saying that the usual upgrades like cooling, electrical and fuel systems shouldn't be addressed but clam shell rear deck lids is going WAY TO FAR. Flame away, I think most of you guys have less that good taste when it come to your car mods.

That's the beauty of these cars - we can do what we want to - or not. Problem is the folks that really would like everyone do what they do. Reminds me of a gent in the local Cobra group - he positively pouted when I told him we had added mufflers to our Daytona. He made it clear he liked loud. So? He can have loud. And Nancy can have original. I just like driving mine.

What are you gonna impeach me from? The Forum? Big deal. Look, someone has to point up these mindless modifications to cars that are now ( who knows why ) worth something.
The unmolested cars are the ones that will raise to the top of the money pile.
Remember I was the one who started the "impeach Shortt movement ". And look what happened.
Gonancy, leaving my car mostly alone.
