Dennis, I think you have a great view on how it's really supposed to work. If a person enjoys the on-line format, it's -there- for them to use. If they like this format, it's there for them to use. If they like both, it's there for them to use. I think about how I got to the PI forum and see postings from Jack DeRyke, who also posts on this email list. I'm a members of many on-line forums and I go there when I need to, but I'm more dedicated to this list and as Chuck Engles pointed out in another email, this is like walking into a pub and sitting down among friends with a pint of beer and just shooting the breeze. An on-line forum can be that way too, especially if you get email delivery of all the postings; though you still have to go on-line to reply. The new POCA forum has pretty much the same features as the old on-line forum that was on the old web-site, but it hardly got used. I tried to stimulate some use early on, but nothing much happened. The new web site is more exciting and has the added benefit of tracking actual memberships as well. That part doesn't work as well for folks who are a little Internet shy or who don't have email, but it's what I think is a step in the right direction; I'm just not sure I agree with how it's all being kind of forced on people. But I agree that both formats are viable and useful. I'm sure with some care and feeding it could be great like the PI forum, once populated with great content and activity. Personally, I prefer the bulletin board type forum like PI or now the POCO forum over the email list. Easier to organize and find information. This email stream is like sitting at a big table with a lot of your friends having several conversations at once about different stuff. You'll miss something sometimes, and have no idea how to search the years of history to find stuff. Having said that I gotta remember as SOBill says "the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing". For me, the main thing is new and old friends with a common interest in great cars. So wherever I find those great people, I will go and adapt to whatever tool they prefer. I like new and shiny things) It is much like the PI forum, but not nearly as intuitive or easy to use. Smart phone use is quite trying. What I noticed today though was the volume of that new site versus the volume of this resurrected email list. I think I'm being conservative to say the posts here outnumber the POCA forum by at least 10 to 1. Not sure what that means, but it must mean something.......... Just saying. ;-) Larry - _______________________________________________ Detomaso Forum NO LONGER Managed by POCA Posted emails must not exceed 1.5 Megabytes DeTomaso mailing list [[6]4]DeTomaso@server.detomasolist.com [5][7]http://server.detomasolist.com/mailman/listinfo/detomaso To manage your subscription (change email address, unsubscribe, etc.) use the links above.
