Hey Mike, You are correct. As I understand it from Steve Wilkinson, the deck lids are black paint with charcoal metal flake that you can¹t find here. I think he may be the only person that can get it from a supplier in Italy. There are a few things wrong with that car other than those mentioned. The most obvious is the badging in the rear. The ³Pantera² script is way too low, and the ³GTS² badge is missing from the right side, which tends to lend credence to the stories about the car being heavily damaged in the rear and repaired. Probably also related to the damage is that it has Euro GTS mufflers, not the OE versions that came on the US cars, and the GTS tips are missing. This car appears to have most of the right original GTS parts, but one thing that's hard to fake is the paint. When repainting the black hood and deck lid, most people seem to opt for a solid black, either gloss or satin. However, I think the original U.S. GTS cars all came with a metallic charcoal finish on those areas. For some reason, that seems very hard to replicate, or perhaps people prefer the non-metallic look. The latter doesn't seem to make sense for a car striving for originality to the point of suffering with original Arriva tires. For my money, I would expect a $250K Pantera to get it ALL right. _______________________________________________ Detomaso Email List is not managed by POCA Posted emails must not exceed 1.5 Megabytes DeTomaso mailing list DeTomaso@server.detomasolist.com http://server.detomasolist.com/mailman/listinfo/detomaso To manage your subscription (change email address, unsubscribe, etc.) use the links above.
