
Wow. I had the same problem. I feel like we¹re a bunch of old guys talking about losing bladder control or something. I tried a different approach. I welded an old ARP nut onto the pan. That way I can crank it down without worrying about stripping threads, plus it provides a smooth sealing surface. No - I don¹t torque it to 75 ft-lbs, but it¹s nice knowing I¹ll never strip the threads. I fought the dripping oil on pan plugs for years......no washer works on all.....I use a bead of rtv sealant under the head and on to the first few threads.. Works better for me, even on old old cars.

I once had to re-use a washer and had a tad of drippage until I could get a new one. You definitely don't want to crank the plug down too hard.
