Thomas, I had to cut about 8 inches off of one of the SS lines and turn it a bit. Then take a tour of the back room of our auto parts store to find a formed hose that I could cut up to provide the correct bends for the reverse attachment. Unfortunately it is about time to replace the cut up hose and I don't have any idea which hose I used. jerry knotts On 9/19/2016 9:07 AM, Thomas Törnblom wrote:
Checking the service manual I see that the return line to the water pump is connected to the top, and this is how it has always been connected on my car. Not sure how easy it would be to reverse the lines on my car. The lines would have to cross each other. Thomas Den 2016-09-19 kl. 15:46, skrev Jerry Knotts:
When I bought my first Pantera in 2000 I had a heating problem at the track. When It would puke about 1/2 gal of coolant it would overheat and was hell to try and keep cool. It would sometimes suck the full puke tank back in as it cooled and work for a few laps then overheat again. I would refill the unit belch it at the radiator and it would work again for a while. After a couple of disappointing track days, I was under the car and followed the radiator lines forward. The engine return was routed from the top of the radiator. I found that when the car was rebuilt some years before they had replaced the radiator with a "Chevy" style radiator which had the lines reversed. My engine return was from the top of the radiator and the engine hot was going to the bottom of the radiator. Rearranged different radiator hook up hoses and it has been fine since. I had a similar experience when I got my first Pantera, it overheated in traffic, so I jumped on the web found all these articles about swapping radiators and fans etc. and duly went and purchased a setup. When I got to going through the car checking the thermostat I found it was a Windsor style, I swapped it for the correct Cleveland t-stat and voila heating issues resolved.
It's just a reminder to check the simple stuff prior to laying out big $$$, even now I think there are still a lot of myths' perpetuated about these cars... like someone once said "why let the truth get in the way of a good story"

Jack,
Good stuff. I too am running the original radiator with new fans. I'm not going to change it now but I will follow your progress. Someday I will have to deal with it. So keep posting and I will keep saving the responses. ;-)
