
Mike, I think the marking is in reference to side of car rather than threads (though in this case they are the same). S and D markings are frequent in Italian cars when it comes to side to side mirror image parts. But that speaks to the thread direction (one of them is reverse thread, left to tighten) It's my belief that the S or left-tighten axle goes on the left side of the car but I can't remember for sure.
