Years ago I would use a vacuum pump to remove air then open a valve to allow rick chip sealer to void the space. Large glass companies use it all the time. Safelight commercials show then using. It might work, it might not, but I suspect it would help prevent this getting worse. Here’s what I have used to seal windhield gasket leaks (it is quite clear):
