Take a fast drive with a/c on max then stop and quickly check drier body temp and its surrounding metal with temp gun to see what they are. I believe the dryer maybe cooler than its area. So insulation only sounds good. Also your oil is cooler so to help the compressor.
A drier should release temp not hold it.
