My ’74 U.S. GTS was also a daily driver for years and it sucked in the rain until I ditched the Arrivas. It too was reliable until I started having issues with the points but only after a heavy rainstorm even with the car under a carport. Electronic ignition to care of that. Oddly enough, I never had issues with the 4300 carburetor until it developed a crack and started a fire that was able to put out with damage, ironically, only to my electronic ignition… Richard From: Jeff Detrich <jjdetrich@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, May 23, 2025 1:45 PM To: Richard Greenblum <Richard@richardgreenblum.com> Cc: De Tomaso List <detomaso@server.detomasolist.com> Subject: Re: [DeTomaso] Re: Unmodified Pantera! I have 50 pictures of this car taken in July, 2009, documenting the VIN 6879, 135 miles on the speedometer, original paperwork and original Arrivas that look like they have never been used. These pics also show pics of the undercarriage and wheel wells with the tires off not shown in the Sotheby's listing. Owner sent them to me in 2021. (The tires are being sold with the car according to pictures in the Sotheby's site) BTW, I was the original owner of 6778, also in white. I used that car as my daily commuter in Chicago for 3 years and some 18,000 miles. In sun, rain, snow or ice, it was remarkably reliable and never once left me stranded. Somewhere along the way, it was restored and last I heard it had been flooded and totaled in the New York area in 2012's hurricane Sandy. Disappeared after that. I still hear regularly from the son of the guy who bought it from me. Wonderful memories.
