As usual, I watch as much of the 24 hours as I can. My heart goes out to Toyota. They deserved the win. But to finish first, first you must finish. I found myself not feel as happy for Porsche as I could feel disappointed for Toyota. Corporately, the Volkswagen Group has demonstrated that they are tough to beat in the LMP1 prototypes. Audi has been in the spotlight in the last few years. I think Volkswagen has done some technology re-badge/spillover/sharing with Porsche to give their corporate image a boost. Well done for FORD again to show its corporate dominance in GT cars. Ford GT finished 1,3,4 in that class . The 2nd place Ferrari F388 is under penalty review so it may be a Ford GT 1, 2, 3 finish. Pretty impressive 50th anniversary for Ford. All in all a very entertaining race. I enjoyed the last 3 LeMans races - more so than the "follow the Mercedes" Formula 1. It's a stupid rule, or rather a stupid interpretation of the rule. Mechanical black flags should only be thrown for problems that affect safety or performance. Hopefully any penalty that is assessed will be minor and not affect the outcome of the race! I agree. It's a pretty questionable reason anyway (car ordered to the pits with a half hour left in the race because one of the position lights wasn't working -not a headlight, taillight, or safety related component) I believe that other cars had had similar problems during the race that took a couple hours to sort out, so if the Ferrari is given different treatment it could make people question how biased things are. Ford doesn't deserve that... -----Original Message----- From: Nathan Giles [mailto:nathan.giles@ex3.com] Sent: domingo, 19 de junio de 2016 18:11 To: The Goyaniuks Cc: Corey Price; harles McCall; Detomaso Email List Subject: Re: [DeTomaso] How many saw the finish of Le Mans? In spite of my blood being Ford blue and my excitement at the 1,3,4 win I hope that ACO does NOT negate the Ferrari 2nd place due to penalty. Too much negative controversy would be generated about Ford being given the 1,2,3. Nathan Giles the links above.
