Electric mirrors?

Guys, Lots of 80s Panteras were modified with the fitment of 'aero' mirrors that attach to the glass. These mirrors were sourced from the 80's Plymouth Champ Custom/Dodge Colt/Mitsubishi something-or-other. Some of these mirrors were electrically adjustable. A friend in France has a '71 Pantera he sourced from the US that has these mirrors installed, but the electrical function was never implemented. He would like to get the controls needed to actuate them. He has tried several different switches, but the design (one motor with a clutch) is very specific so it's difficult/impossible to get them working with most switches. New single wire starter for Pantera's. As you know these are specific to our cars. Never mounted.This is HEAVY - not the cheap variety that can fail in a few years, or days, like the last one I bought.Wilkinson gets $295.00 for his. First $85.00 takes it. No! Cut the old tubes out. New tubes from vendors are pre-cut into 2 pieces with rubber connectors. Might as well get new gaskets for the frame rail holes while you are at it. Getting those installed around the tubes and staying in the holes was the hardest part. Classic LA Auto Show - POCA

Hello everyone, I've been in contact with the promoters at the upcoming LA Classic Auto Show 2017 Jan 27-29. I can get in as many DeTomaso cars as we can muster into the show for free, she told me they can accommodate 40 cars. There will be trophies, celebrities and all televised by Velocity channel. All free. See attached flyer. Need to get a head count if you can go to your chapters and see who wants there car on TV! :-) Chip Foose and several others will be there. Please let me know. Terry, quite a bit of the 'required' torque depends on what valve cover gaskets you use. The old stand-by- cork- will slowly crush down close to each bolt even if correctly torqued, which not only produces leaks, retightening also will eventually pinch the gaskett into pieces, making reuse or further retightening impossible. Too little torque plus blow-by can blow sections of gasket outside the covers, or sometimes suck pieces inside. It also depends on what valve covers you have; the OEM sheet steel ones are extremely flexible and really need large oblong washers under each bolt to spread the load. Cast aluminum ones are heavier and more rigid so bolt torque is effectively spread out. Overtorquing cast covers will break the bolts. Neoprene gaskets can take a little more torque than cork before tightening will damage them. Its a toss-up as to whether the bolt will shear or the gasket will leak. Note- all the above also applies to oil pan gaskets. A couple of companies offer pre-formed silicone gaskets that are (maybe) infinitely reusable with a little RTV on one side. One type is lined with metal to prevent suck-in or blow-outs. They are expensive.
